Jules Deloffre

Our Jules Collection is named after the French cyclist, also known as the acrobat, Jules Deloffre. He was given this name because he performed iconic acrobatic maneuvers in front of the crowd when he reached the finish line of the stages. He took part in fourteen editions of the Tour de France between 1908 and 1928, completing seven of them. Between 1920 and 1985 he held the record for the most number of participations in the Tour de France, which was only surpassed in 1967.

What is the isolés category?

In the earlier years of the Tour de France, the cyclists participated as individuals, as the tour organizer, Henri Desgrange, wanted the Tour de France to showcase the individual strength of the cyclists. In the mentioned years, cyclists could participate without sponsors and division into teams, as they were instead categorized under different names. The first name was isolles.
